Just as tree branches need to be trimmed year-round for them to strengthen; so must a company’s workflow be streamlined for it to reach its utmost success. Depending on which aspect you are trying to make lean, you must always remain conscious of what is working and what is hindering the growth and effectiveness of your company.
Whether it be in the area of management, finances, or tech, here are some concise ways to help streamline your company:
1. Draw Boundaries
When it comes to managing, boundaries are key. You must remain aware of when one project ends and another begins. Boundaries can be made tangible with basic tools such as a calendar or an organizer. If you’d like your whole team to stay on board with effective time management, softwares such as TimeClock Scheduler or Asgard Systems Time Tracker can help.
2. Use Your Contacts
Keep track of where your company has been getting its supplies and how much you need. If you have been regularly getting them from the same suppliers, chances are that you would be able to cut down on costs by negotiating a contract deal such as a long-term order or purchasing in bulk and stocking up.
When it comes to the insurance policies for your company, schedule them to be renewed by the same agent on the same date. Your insurance agent might be able to cut you a good deal after years of partnership. Using the same accountant during every tax season can also help you to save a lot of hassle and time.
3. Work on Your Team’s Strengths
As I have stated before, it is very important to know that your team is on board with you. Set standards as to what you are looking for so that you can narrow it down to the ones who are the strongest and most passionate about the job. The more passionate and enthusiastic they are, the higher the chances of them adding to the overall workflow of the company.
4. Cut Down on Meetings
With that said, having fewer staff meetings will save you loads of time. Everyone dreads meetings, especially ones that drag on without purpose. With a team of great staff, you won’t have to micromanage; giving your whole team, yourself included, more time to focus on the more important aspects of your company.
5. Go Online and Stay Online
Finally, in the technological aspect of streamlining your company, having a server is a great substitute for a filing cabinet. This will make backing up your documents easier when they are all stored on a central server.
A great way to get rid of all those tedious, time-consuming phone calls is to create an online FAQ list which can answer most of your client's questions on your website. This not only enhances customer service, but can also cut down the number of customer service phone operators for your company.
These are just a few quick tips to help you get started. Streamlining is always something you want to do for your company and you must make sure all of your team members are on board and actively working to do their part toward making this happen for it to reach its full potential.
